Purging your wardrobe can also be a little daunting, one tip is to tackle it (much like you would cleaning) in sections so as to not overwhelm. This can be going thru the contents of one drawer of your dresser or one row of your closet as a time.

Spring is here, finally, making it a great time to clean out your closet, drawers, shelves… wherever you store your stuff. Here are some ideas for how to tackle, what may seem like an overwhelming task.

The rule of thumb is that if you haven’t worn something for the last two years it’s time to retire it, but if you are like me sometimes that can be a little hard.

Here are a couple of tips to consider when deciding whether to “keep” or “get rid of”:

Is the item in good condition? Are there snares or holes that can’t be repaired? LET IT GO – you won’t wear again. (This applies to shoes as well)

Does it still fit? But also, is it still flattering? Look, our bodies change over time (even if we are lucky enough to be weight stable)

What to do with your disgraces when you are done? There are a couple of options you can take:

If the item simply doesn’t fit you can either donate it or look into reselling it. There are couple of different options if you are going to resell. You can either do it yourself thru an online site like Poshmark, TheRealReal, ebay, EBTH or Thredup. If you choose the consignment route – you need to do some research to identify your local options. Note: most consignment store cater to specific audiences and usually provide their preferred brands in their contracts.

If the item is beyond repair, can it be upcycled? Remember, two of my favorite denim skirts are products of upcycling.
